STORM Testimonials

TESTIMONIAL for STORM Lacrosse from Kirsten Nease – mother, coach, administrator and leader of girls lacrosse in the greater Richmond area:

Sue and Barb…

It seems only fitting on the eve of the first summer tournament weekend that I reflect on the past 3 years of lacrosse with you.

It seems like just yesterday I was pointed in your direction for Karoline (then 6th grader) to your summer program.  We both quickly became enthralled not only with the level of coaching but with the contagious positive and enthusiastic attitude on the field!  I remember early on, chatting on the way home from practice with Karoline, and discussing what “WE” had learned.  The were no limits to what we took home in each practice.  For Karoline, it was the technical aspects that she needed to develop and for me, the limitless tips to coaching.

As the years have passed, I know for certain that I cannot imagine lacrosse without each of you!  Karoline has grown to become an accomplished player under your guidance.  As I watched HS lacrosse in RVA this spring, it was very apparent that there are many more players you have influenced.  It is clear who trains with STORM and who does not.  Your players are unmistakeable in this region… they are dominant on the field, have excellent ball skills and carry an air of confidence that you have so willingly shared with these young women.  With each season, I too have grown as a coach.  I am proud to have a young team of passionate laxers under my tutelage this summer.  I know they will be successful, confident players as well because of the outstanding training you have provided me as a coach.  Not only have you given me the opportunity to grow as a coach but countless other women.  You continue to seek the best talent available and staff your programs accordingly.  I am also impressed with how much time you give to local high schools throughout the season.  You make yourselves available for guest coaching, share plays and help with technical aspects that your experience affords.  These efforts have elevated the game of lacrosse for young women in this area!

It is an exciting time to be part of STORM!  It is evident you work tirelessly to improve upon the previous season.  Your communication with families, organization of coaches and foremost, the development of girls lacrosse in our region is second to none.   There will always be obstacles to overcome as you grow your programs, but if history has anything to say about it…there will be many more successes upon which to build!

Thank you so much for sharing your passion with me and my family!

TESTIMONIAL for STORM Lacrosse from Devoe Reagan – father, coach, administrator and leader of girls lacrosse in the greater Richmond area:

To those of you who are considering various options for improving your lacrosse skills over the sum…mer and fall, I would like to recommend that you consider the Storm program run by Sue Murphy and New World Sports.

My own girls both played for Storm this summer and fall. They loved the practices, their coaches and their fellow teammates. As a coach, I can think of no better program in the Richmond area than Storm. The quality of the coaching is exceptional, with real college coaches leading several of the HS age teams. The quality of the players on the teams is second to none. On my own daughters’ team there were girls from Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville as well as the Richmond area. The teams are selected by skill and age levels, and the best truly play with the best.

I attend many of the practices along with fellow Midlothian Coach Henneberry. We enjoy watching and learning from the college coaches on the staff. And those same college coaches have made a point of opening their college practices to us. The Storm family is clearly committed to making our girls better players and helping us become better teams.

Midlothian currently has six girls on our Blue team roster that played for Storm last summer. When we consider our upcoming opponents, the girls always comment immediately on who from their Storm teams is on the opposing squad. Generally we have more Storm girls, and not surprisingly, we generally win.

Finally, the benefit I see from the Storm program is that it is a teaching environment that starts in the spring and lasts through the summer. It is not a four day event like a camp, where skills are soon forgotten once the players return. With Storm the teaching continues every week in the spring and through the summer, with constant reinforcement from the coaching staff. I hope you will consider the Storm option for your girls.                                           – Devoe Reagan
